Introducing – the University of North Georgia

(Jan. 8, 2013) – It's official: the University of North Georgia has been created through the consolidation of North Georgia College & State University and Gainesville State College. The University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents approved the consolidation – along with three others that have also been in progress during the past year – at its meeting today.

Graduating class in nursing education presents research in learning

Deal appoints four to USG Board of Regents

ATLANTA(Jan. 3, 2013) – The governor’s office has announced 17 individuals appointed to boards by Gov. Nathan Deal, with four of them named to the University System of Georgia (USG) Board of Regents.

University named as national best value by Kiplinger's Personal Finance

(Dec. 27, 2012) - For the third time, North Georgia College & State University has been named to Kiplinger's Personal Finance's list of 100 best values in public colleges in the nation. The 2012-13 ranking cites four-year schools that combine outstanding education with economic value.

North Georgia, also named to the list for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011, is one of only three public universities in Georgia to be named to the magazine’s list. The others are the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech.

University plans special events to mark consolidation

(Dec. 20, 2012) – As the formal consolidation of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College & State University nears, plans are underway for campus-based events on Jan. 10 to mark the beginning of a new era as the schools become the University of North Georgia. The consolidation is set to be ratified by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia at its meeting on Jan. 8, 2013.

Intercollegiate rifle team defeats Citadel, wins conference tournament

(Dec. 6, 2012) — North Georgia College & State University's intercollegiate rifle team edged out The Citadel by 12 points to take first place in the recent Southeastern Rifle Conference tournament. Two team members also took first and second in individual standings.

Corps of Cadets' Colombo unit turns 50

(Dec. 3, 2012) — For decades, cadets in the Mountain Order of Colombo at North Georgia College & State University have been rappelling off Mount Yonah and learning survival skills in the woods around Dahlonega. Many alumni of the extracurricular unit, which this semester celebrates its 50th year, have gone on to become members of the Army Rangers or other specialized military units.
