 Our Mission:

The Department of Visual Arts at North Georgia College & State University develops and educates leaders in the disciplines of studio art, art education, art marketing, and art history through holistic, innovative programs that foster an understanding of and engagement with the visual arts and material culture studies across the curriculum and within the global culture. The Department provides an environment of academic excellence, fostered by faculty role models, that develops leaders in the visual arts who respect all people, maintain high standards of ethics and scholarship/craftsmanship, and continue intellectual and personal growth. The Department promotes the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Appalachia while it advances and helps develop the future of this region. The Department engages in partnerships with and service to the community, the state, the nation, and the world through activities and opportunities including academic instruction, internships, service-learning, study abroad, exhibitions, and workshops.
