Students successfully completing the teacher education program in physical education will be recommended for a Georgia Teaching License in Health & Physical Education (P-12). This license will qualify the student to teach both health & physical education from pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade. Before NGCSU can recommend a student for a teaching license the student must provide evidence of passing scores in both parts of the GACE II examination. |

All teacher education programs at NGCSU adhere to the Metacognitive Model in preparing students for a career in education. The model represents the core values of the NGCSU teacher education program. The model depicts the roles of a quality teacher and the skills necessary to excel as a quality teacher. A quality teacher is a leader, a facilitator of learning, and a decision maker. The skills needed to fulfill those roles are planning, monitoring, and assessing. One can not separate those roles from the essential skills; therefore a student in the NGCSU teacher education program will have numerous opportunities in classes, labs, and internship settings to develop those qualities and skills essential to becoming an exemplary teacher. |
