Dr. Sung Shin Kim is a historian of China and Korea from the Early Modern Period onwards. Specifically, her interests are political culture and how (state) power has been exercised, as well as comparative/connected approaches to China and Korea's past.
After receiving her M.A. from Fudan University in Shanghai, she earned her Ph. D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania.
At North Georgia she offers upper-level courses on "China, from the 17th Century to the Present," "China in the World," "Empire and Imperialism in East Asia," "Total War in East Asia and Europe," and (coming soon) "History of Korea."
