What is Group Ex?
Group Ex is University of North Georgia's Group Exercise Classes. They are great work-outs in a fun, instructed, social environment. All of our Group Ex Classes are non-credit and focus on conditioning, strengthening and toning the body through various degrees of intensity. Our instructors will motivate and guide you through various exercises, bringing fresh ideas and inspiration to your work-out plan. If you have never been involved with group exercises classes before, don’t be shy. Classes are geared towards all ability levels, so bring a buddy and come check it out!
To get involved in Group Ex, stop by the Front Desk of the Rec Center. After signing a waiver, the Rec Center Staff will place a sticker on the back of your card authorizing you to attend.
Unless otherwise specified, classes have room for 30 participants. These spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. To obtain a spot, please see the upstairs fitness staff for an admittance card. It is recommended that you arrive early to guarantee a spot. Please be aware that in order to attend two classes in a row you must leave the room and obtain another admittance card. Also guest of the facility may not attend Group Ex classes.

Try a high impact, total body cardiovascular workout designed after traditional boxing. This session incorporates both lower and upper body exercises ensuring to raise your heart rate.
Lose you inhibitions and get fit to the beat. Whether you think you can dance or not, we’ll get your body grooving to fresh dance combinations.
The fusion of Latin and International dance moves create a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness system. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of easy to follow dance steps that ton and sculpt your body’s muscles.
Cardio and Muscle Conditioning
X-Factor is a 30 minute class that uses high intensity cardio and weights to push you to new levels and help you see results. This cross training class is perfect for people of all levels of fitness! This class is limited to 15 participants .
This circuit style class involves a series of strength as well as cardio exercises but taken outdoors!!! You’ll never know what to expect next with Bootcamp. This class will go on rain or shine!
Strength and Toning
This class brings the fun to weight training. This will be the perfect way to strengthen and tone your muscles.
This 30-minute workout focuses on toning and strengthening your core (abs and lower back). All fitness levels welcome, as a variety of modifications will be given!
Mind and Body
YogaFit is designed to improve the health, performance, and mental acuity of athletes or individuals interested in improving their level of fitness. Based on the ancient fitness science of Hatha yoga, it blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness format. YogaFit overcomes the mystery of yoga by delivering a practical, user-friendly style, which is accessible, understandable, and achievable by individuals at any level of fitness.
This class uses postures, breath, gaze and locks to create a lean, strong body. This invigorating, heat producing practice detoxifies the system, realigns the body and energizes the spirit.
