Home and About

The North Georgia Summer Spanish Summer Language Institute is a language immersion program that combines language learning with authentic cultural experiences, providing you with the opportunity to establish relationships with International Students that are native Spanish speakers and use your Spanish skills to play sports, prepare traditional Spanish dishes, dance and sing, and act in plays and skits.  Through this experience, you will earn credit for Beginning and Intermediate Spanish courses (SPAN 1001- 3 hours and SPAN 1002- 4 hours) and Spanish Culture and Civilization (MLAN 1950- 2 hours).  This is an interactive and dynamic opportunity to learn to speak Spanish and gain cultural competency, preparing you to travel abroad next summer through one of the many abroad experiences offered by North Georgia and the University System of Georgia.

You will attend morning classes and a language lab and participate in authentic cultural experiences in the afternoon lead by North Georgia faculty and International Students on our campus.  Students will have lunch daily with faculty and tutors in Spanish and have the option of living in a Spanish language residence hall where you may practice your language skills and receive extra help with homework and projects from tutors that are native Spanish speakers.

Check out our website and contact Dr. Jennifer Formwalt for more information about the program.  You may apply online through the form under the “Apply” tab on this webpage.
