Teacher Education Admissions Information

Program Cohorts: Applications for Fall 2013 Admissions 

Admissions for HPE and Art Education programs are currently open.
Admissions for all other programs for Fall 2013 are being accepted from February 11 to March 1, 2013 (including Early Childhood/Special Ed, Middle Grades Ed, & P12 (EXCEPT HPE)/Secondary Ed programs).

Other application requirements 
  • Proof of Professional Liability Insurance (for 2 years)

  • Early Childhood Special Ed (ECESPED) Program and Early Childhood (ECE) Program:
    Copy of     Unofficial Transcript reflecting: GPA of 2.75, completion (or anticipated completion) of 60 semester credit hours, all courses in Area A1 (ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102), A2 (Math) and Area F (EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, EDUC 2130, ISCI 2001, ISCI 2002, and MATH 2008) with grades of C or better. 
    In addition  to the items listed above, students must submit a Plan of Study completed and signed by the Coordinator of Advisement in the College of Education.

  •  Middle Grades Program:
    Copy of     Unofficial Transcript reflecting: GPA of 2.75, completion (or anticipated completion) of 40 semester credit hours, all courses in Area A1 (ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102), A2 (Math) and Area F (EDUC 2110, EDUC 2120, and EDUC 2130.

  •  Proof of successful completion or exemption of GACE Test of Basic Skills (Test I—Reading (200), Test II—Mathematics (201), Test III—Writing (202) or qualifying exemption (SAT or ACT scores)

  • Effective Fall 2013 semester, all students will be subject to a Fingerprint/Background check performed by Pioneer RESA.  The following students will be subject to the Fingerprint/Background at the following times:  

  • *August of Junior year once accepted to the program - $57

    *August of Senior year - $57

    Payments for the Fingerprinting/Background Session will be paid to the Business Office.  Along with the payment, please submit the Fingerprinting and Background Form (part of the application and also found here). 

  • Applicants are also required to complete an online Dispositions Self-Evaluation.  Click on the following link to access the self-evaluation:  Dispositions Self Evaluation

Your admission packet must be submitted to the College of Education’s Admission Office (110 Dunlap Hall) and will not be considered complete until all documents are submitted.  

 
You can submit a LATE application that is available in Room 110 Dunlap Hall. This application will be considered if spots are available in the program to which you seek admission: 
  • Early Childhood Care Education (Birth-5 yrs),
  • Early Childhood Education,
  • Early Childhood/SPED Education,
  • Middle Grades Education, or
  • P-12/Secondary Education.

Transfer Students

Transfer students who wish to apply for admission to Teacher Education must first apply for admission to the University.  Please note that admission to the University does not automatically guarantee admission to Teacher Education.  Transfer students must also submit a letter of recommendation from an education professor at the previous institution.
